As Alex pondered the decision, Narik walked through the door. "Klein? What are you doing here?" Alex looked to Narik and took his hand off his chin. "Since both of you are here, I guess there is something you can help me with. I've been...hesitant of saying anything to anyone about my studies, but when even the police can't do anything about the matter, I guess you have to go into desperate measures." Narik smirked. "Good, this is exactly what I came here to talk about. I want to help with the problem, you don't have to carry the burden all by yourself." Klein stood in the middle of the conversation, deeply confused as to what was occurring.
"There is a person in this town who is...different. I've been here for almost 4 years now and I can tell you that this town isn't one where you would ever see a civilian decide he wants to be a merc or warrior. It's a peaceful town and everyone just wants it to stay at that, but this person isn't prone on that decision. They have already killed 37 people and no one has any evidence of who it is. At first, I didn't understand how it was possible to kill that many people yet have been so careful that you leave nothing behind...but now I'm starting to see that this person is a master, this probably isn't the first time they've done this. I looked into other villages that are like Daygeran, you know, ones that normally don't breed these type of people and I found that about 4 other towns had the same occurrences and the person is making a pattern. First village they killed 10 people as a warm up, make sure that they are capable of the act. Next, they took it up a notch, killed 20. Village after that, 30. And you should know the pattern by now, which means Daygeran is going to be their 50 kill limit and I'm not planning on letting that happen. Only have 13 more people until the killer decides to split, which is why I am getting worried."
Klein clenched his fist on his lap while listening to the explanation. "Why didn't you get help from someplace else? If the police here can't do anything, surely some wanderers would gladly take payment to find the killer." Alex sighed. "I did, that was my first action. I lied earlier, about the painting, I had seen one of them recently." Alex pointed to the man in the painting with the two swords. "His name was Matt. He came to town to visit me, during that time the murders were only at 6. He offered to help out, but instead of keeping it secret he made a public announcement that he would take command of the investigation. Two weeks and 5 deaths later, Matt got killed as well. That showed me that this killer isn't to be taken lightly as Matt wasn't one to go down quietly." Narik raised his hand and caught Alex's attention. "Do you think that the killer knows about your search for him? Aren't you a target as well?" Alex lowered his head. "Yes, many of the villagers know about my investigation of the matter, so I'd assume that the killer know as well. It's only a matter of time until he targets me, but I have a feeling he won't...until he gets to that Lucky 50th Target....It's just a theory though, I could be completely wrong, hell one of you could even be him and as soon as my back is turned I'll be stabbed, but I'm sure that neither of you are or at least I hope not."
"Trust me, neither of us would ever do a thing like this, I can assure you that. Now, if you want us to help you with this, I think it would be best if you showed us one of the crime scenes." Narik stood, along with Klein and they waited for Alex's approval. "...Okay then, I guess you're right. The newest killing was about 10 minutes away, so I guess we should check out that one." Alex got out of his chair and walked out the door with Klein and Narik close behind him.

As Klein followed behind Alex he spoke up. "What of your other friends? Surely you had told them of what was going on here." He wore a puzzled look. "Then again, maybe you havent in fear of them being kill by this guy too...but if thats the case we stand even less of a chance." He frowned looking at his shoulder where the scar was. "I'm...not much of a fighter." He shook his head. "But I suppose I can leave it to you two, just leave the tracking to me, I've learned how to follow trails pretty well!" He continued to follow along silently after that, pondering to himself where Blade and Amira had gone to and wondering if they were going to help with the investigation.

Blade examined the ship. He returned from looking for replacement parts, but there simply weren't enough resources in town to repair such a damaged ship. Blade noticed 3 men aboard the ship, moving stealthily. Blade didn't recognize any of them. Quickly the men jumped back to the dock, each with a large bag of gold clearly not belonging to them. Blade hid behind some large crates at the end of the dock. The first man was running by. Blade stuck a foot out, tripping him, and he fell flat on the ground. Blade smiled, "So what do we have here? Some looters trying to steal from my ship? Put all the gold down and walk away." Blade said cracking his knuckles. One man laughed, "Great another do-gooder around here. You listen to me, us three are leaving with this money." Blade saw the man behind him on the ground was back on his feet, attempting to sneak up and grab him from behind. The talking one clenched a fist. Blade just smiled, he knew exactly what to do. The first looter took a swing as the other tried to grab Blade. He ducked instantly, and the looter punched out his own friend. Quickly blade grabbed the extended arm, one hand on the shoulder, one on his wrist, and thrusted his knee into the looters elbow. A violent crack sounded as his arm broke. As he stepped away yelling in pain, the last looter approached him with a dagger. He, as well as the other looter who was punched were on either side. The armed one stabbed at Blade, but he was stopped as Blade grabbed his wrist, pulled him into a headlock, and kneed him in the head. Blade turned around and threw him at the other looter. The one with the broken arm was attempting to fight once again. He swung with his un-broken arm, but Blade caught his fist, and kicked his legs out from under him. Blade put his other hand on the mans wrist, and planted his foot on his shoulder. He pulled sharply, and dislocated his shoulder. This time he was so out of it, he didnt even get up. Blade turned to the only conscious looter. He turned tail and ran, leaving all the money on the dock. Blade dusted off his hands, the looters were coming around, but in no condition to fight. He helped one of them up, and pointed him to the maimed one. "He's got two worthless arms, and your hardly standing. Take your friend, and leave. Don't come back or no one's leaving next time." Blade collected the money bags, as the two men slowly drudged away, Blade flipped them a single coin. "For your troubles."

Amira's eyebrows furrowed as she walked through town, deeply focusing and thinking over what she'd just heard. She had been in a local market picking up some supplies to bring back to the wreck of a ship when she had heard about the killing spree that had been going on for a while in this small, peaceful town. It shocked and worried her, and she was thinking of ways to help already.
She set out in search for her friends, and soon enough, she saw Klein and Narik moving through town with Narik's friend Alex. She approached them and, from the serious, hard look on their faces, she guessed that they knew the same thing she did. She greeted them and they explained to her what they knew, and Alex's quest for the killer. Some things, she hadn't gathered yet from the locals. She asked to join them to visit the crime scene, putting it in the back of her mind to find a way to get a message to Lucien soon.

The group continued on through town until they finally reached the building where the last murder happened. A man was sitting in front of the door and got up when Alex approached him. "Back again, eh? You must really think that there is something in there if you keep coming back." The man looked behind Alex to see the rest of the group. "Ah, I see. You've got yourself a mini investigation squad....how cute. Well, like I said before, if the slim chance of you guys finding something actually occurs, make sure you tip us in as well." With that, the man took off and headed into a nearby tea shop. "Who was that?" Klein asked. "He's the Sheriff's lap dog, Gale. Shoves his nose into everyone's business and then goes off and tells it to the police. Not that long ago, some townsfolk gave me some drawings of what some people thought the killer looked like, but Gale broke into my fort and took them while I was away. Hopefully, I can find something more worthwhile than speculations in here though, I just have to keep searching..." Alex opened the door and the rest followed inside.
The main room of the house was perfectly fine as well as the bathroom, kitchen, and all the bedrooms. "See, another thing Gale stole from me and took credit for was finding where the murder happened in this house. Seems like the person who lived here ran some illegal operations and had a secret basement that I accidentally found when I bumped into a wall." Alex touched a brick in the wall and a bookshelf across the room slightly moved. "Pretty sneaky, eh? I think it might catch on.." Alex pushed the bookshelf out of the way and headed down the ladder and the group followed afterwards. In the center of the room was a table with a body on it. "Sorry about the smell, but that's what happens when you have to keep the crime scene as it is until you find some evidence." They all gathered around the table and tried to avoid thinking of the horrible smell while Alex explained what he knew. "Luck for us, we can always tell which killing are from the killer because he likes to be consistent about his...work. Every time we find a body, there is always a slight incision in their neck where he takes some of their blood. Most likely as a sick trophy, a reminder of what he did. He does this while the victim is still alive and then after he is finished, he finishes them off with one quick and precise stab to the heart. He doesn't play around with the victim at all, just a...quick routine, like he's doing it as a job and not for enjoyment. It also looks like he uses the exact same knife for every kill as the puncture has the same depth and tear of the muscle each time..must consider it a ceremonial dagger or something of the sort, but enough about my theories. I think it time that we all look around for anything that I could've missed by myself." Narik, Klein, and Amira nodded and then headed off around the room to see if they could find anything of worth.

Klein examined the room closely, checking the perimeter first, then moving inward towards the body. "Hm.." He mumbled. His mind already racing. "I don't know many of the townspeople, but from what I've seen, that Gale fellow sure is suspicious...stealing all the credit, and evidence." He paused in his investigation and leaned against the wall, pondering to himself. "Then again...the killers is apparently someone new to town, and I'm sure they would have thought of it already had that description fit him." Klein shook his head. "Still not enough to go on here..." He placed a hand on his chin. "There needs to be more evidence...no one is perfect." He closed his eyes and let out a long sigh. "Anyone locate anything yet?" He asked, moving back to start investigating, crouching low to look under a nearby desk.

Alex slammed his fist into the wall. "I can't let this go, there has to be something here. I had to have missed something." He paced around the room, throwing things around desperately. Narik walked up to Alex and put his arm on his shoulder. "Don't beat yourself up, we'll find the killer without evidence." Alex sighed and then reluctantly nodded. "I guess so, but still..." Suddenly, everyone heard a noise from upstairs. "What the hell was that, no one else is suppose to be in here?" Alex said as he ran over to the ladder, "Well? What are you people waiting for?" They all headed upstairs and saw that the tidy rooms were now destroyed and one of the bookshelves were knocked over to reveal a message written in blood. "Do you think this was here before we got here or was the killer the one who just came in here?" Amira looked to the others for an opinion, but noticed that Alex had run out of the house and into the street. "Guess he must've went after whoever broke in, doubt he'll find anyone to admit anything, but this message is interesting though, even if I have no idea what it means." Klein examined the message closer.
"at the Edge, my Dreams all Fade away." Narik read out loud. "I don't really understand it either, maybe Alex would know, but.." He turned to the door and sighed. Klein touched the blood and moved it around in his fingers. "It seems fresh, so the killer really was here just now, but why would he risk getting caught to send us a message." Amira walked to Klein, "Maybe he want to make this into a game with us, to make it more interesting for him." Narik moved a few other things out of the way trying to look for anything else the killer may have left, "I don't think so. Alex said that it didn't look like the killer took pleasure in what he did, I doubt he'd want to make this a game." Just then, Alex returned from the street. "Just caught about 8 people out in the street that people claimed were around the house, told the police to bring them to the jail. We will go there later and interrogate them, but first I wanted to see this message." Alex observed the writing for a few minutes and then replied to the group. "I really don't know what this message means either. It could always just be a trick to make us chase a false lead and let him kill without us breathing down his neck, but whatever, I'll guess we should let the cops look at this now. Let's head for the jail and see if we can get anything from those people."

"What's your name?"
"Why the hell do you need to know that?"
"You're in a jail, YOU ANSWER TO ME, NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!"
*sigh* "Alright, I'll play along, but I'm telling you I don't know anything."
Alex sat down with the others and took out eight papers and put them down for all to see. "Here it is, I finally managed to get everyone to cough up everything they knew. Might as well go through them now..."
Profile 1 Name: Roscoe Harris Miller Age: 30 Profession: Bartender Hometown: Pockington Previous Offenses: Brawl, was dropped after evidence of him using self defense was found. Bio: Roscoe lived with his family, until the age 28 when he decided to make something of his life and make a journey to Daygeran. He has happily lived here for 2 years and has a wife and son. He is a bartender at the Fallen Dreams bar as well as the overall owner. He is well known throughout Daygeran as the bar is considered one of the finest in miles. He is also known to respond to the name Curt for unknown reasons.
Narik stared over the profile. "I'm going to need to stop by that bar..." Klein smacked Narik in the back of the head. "Now's not the time to be thinking of that, we have to keep reading!"
Profile 2 Name: Sean "The Rev" Smallzer Age: 27 Profession: Fight Club Manager/Trainer Hometown: Wallers Previous Offenses: Robbery, Several Brawls, Public Disturbances Bio: Sean lived in the dangerous streets of Wallers during his childhood and teenage years. There he learned to fight and began a bad path, being arrested several times and joining many gangs. Now he lives in Daygeran and is the trainer/owner of the fight club, Flexing Breeze.
Blade walked into the jail and found the group circled around a table. "Hey, what's going on here?" Amira and Klein explained to him, while Alex and Narik looked over the next profile.
Profile 3 Name:Ellis Duncan Farve Age: 25 Profession: Hot Sauce Salesman Hometown: Eagrose Previous Offenses: Hunting Accident Bio: Ellis was born into a family of professional cooks and even though he didn't really enjoy cooking, he continued the legacy. He was quite fond of hunting the animals that his family needed for the meals more than actually making the food. Soon after the family business shut down in Eagrose, he moved to Daygeran to begin selling hot sauce that he has become quite famous for.
Blade was fully informed of the news and joined the group at the table to hear the contents of the 4th profile."This seems pretty interesting, I want in. Start reading the next one."
Profile 4 Name: John Till Manington Age: 44 Profession: Travelling Musician Hometown: Blizzton Previous Offenses: None Bio: Manington lived in the arctic mountain town Blizzton for much of his life, but recently decided to become a musician after his friend was killed during a avalanche. Some people believe John is slightly unstable due to the accident, but no proof has been shown to the fact other than theories. John enjoys having small gatherings to play music with fellow musician at the Edge every Thursday.
"Well then, I think we all should take a short break before looking at the other ones, we have been going at this for awhile." Amira said to Alex. "Yeah, I guess you're right. Let's stop for a bit.."

2 Hours Later....
The group gathered around the table and pulled out the other four profiles. "Okay, let's get started up again. This first one sounds promising!"
Profile 5 Name: Winston Wales White Age: 34 Profession: Poet Hometown: Tinberg Previous Offenses: Stabbed a man after he criticized his poems. Bio: During his teenage years, White discovered that he deeply enjoyed letting his feelings out through writing poems. He claimed that it calmed him down and that if he didn't become a poet, he couldn't really say he would be doing good. After the stabbing of another poet, Winston left Tinberg to pursue a new town, which he found in Daygeran. Here he has started to work on his latest poem, "And the People Fade Away".
"What the hell kinda name is that? WWW? Seriously?" Blade laughed while holding the paper in the air. "Yeah, because Blade Sharpp is a good name." Narik said under his breath as he pulled out the next profile.
Profile 6 Name: Emmett Ryan Fryer Age: 19 Profession: Cotton Store Hometown: Tallahatchie Previous Offenses: Broke a Cotton Gin due to anger Bio: Emmett lived in a small barn in Tallahatchie with his family, until a gang came and took them away. Emmett was in the town during the kidnapping and thought that his family was killed and made the decision to travel to Daygeran to hide from the people in case they returned and to get a job. He found a Cotton store that hired him and has said that he does good work and has never missed a day. He mostly keeps to himself in his room and is said to have a collection of items that he doesn't let anyone see.
"Come on, you arrested a 19 year old boy? Do you seriously think he did this?" Amira said to Alex. "Look, I didn't really think when I ran out into the street, I took whoever I saw and that just happened to include him. Let's just move on.."
Profile 7 Name: Mira Grace Age: 22 Profession: Flower Shop Hometown: Daygeran Previous Offenses: None Bio: Mira was born into a rich family in....
"Wait, wait, wait. I'm pretty sure you can stop reading this one." Klein said to Alex. "Her hometown is Daygeran and the killer is known to have gone around place that are far away from here and also, it's a girl that works at a flower shop. Do you really expect she's the killer." Alex place his hand on his chin. "You never know, it may just be a cover, but if you say so, we'll skip it."
Profile 8 Name: Nick Hall Jennings Age: 34 Profession: None Hometown: Unknown (Went to Potsberry Asylum at age 7) Previous Offense: Carrying illegal items Bio: Nick was born in a unknown village, but was sent to a private school in Potsberry after being dubbed mentally unstable. He stayed here for 23 years, until he was finally released at the age 30. He then spent 4 years wandering around various towns, until finally ending up in Daygeran. He is seen hanging around the local tattoo shop, The Faded Edge, but doesn't actually worked there. He seems to be a regular customer as he reportedly has 37 tattoos of things from his past.
"Wow...that's kinda a bummer to end on. Weird guy, that's for sure." Narik said. Alex stayed silent and put all the profiles back on the table, but the one of Mira Grace. "Well then, we have narrowed it down to seven people that could be the killer. I say it would be smart if all of you pick a target and investigate deeper." Narik raised his hand, "I'd like to hold my decision until the others are done with their investigations if I can." Alex looked confused, but agreed with Narik's request. "Alright then, ladies and gentlemen, takes your picks!"

Klein thought over the profiles in his head. Certain ones stuck out more then others, but he couldnt make a final decision yet. He looked over the profiles one more time, realizing a crucial detail he hadnt found out about yet. He turned to Alex. "Hey, by the way, how long ago exactly did the killings start here? Or how about the very first killing in another town?" He asked. "That will help me narrow this down...a lot" He turned back to the profiles, reading over them a third time as he waited for an answer.

Alex thought about the question. "If I remember correctly, the first murder was recorded about 4 years ago. The first one that occurred in Daygeran was 2 years ago. I'll never be able to forget that, the memory is still so clear. The shock of the crowds, the horror upon everyone's face as they gazed at the body, it was something many of them never saw or intended to see." Klein nodded his head and then continued to look into the profile. "Before you all make your decision, I say we should deeply consider the message the killer left us back at the house. It's funny, the message has words in it that relate to many of these people, it could be any of them..." Narik sat in the corner of the room observing everyone pondering over the profiles. "Everything else that occurred could be a clue too, couldn't it? The years, the number of murders, the killer's M.O...It could be anything." Alex got out of his chair and grabbed a water bottle. "Yeah, I guess you're right about that too. You all should really look deep into those files before you head out. Take as much time as you need."

Blade sifted through the names, pondering for quite a while. He thought to himself, "Damn, where to start... These papers help, but any one of these people could have hidden motives, or reasons why they would want to make a game out of it." Then he thought about what Narik had just said. He made an incredible discovery, his eyes widened. "Narik! Everyone, take a look!" He picked out Whinston White and Nick Jennings. He turned to Klein, "Didn't you tell me the message written in blood at the crime scene read at the Edge, my Dreams all Fade away? Look here. White's poem is titled And the People Fade Awa and Jennings spends a lot of time at the tattoo shop called The Faded Edge. There has to be a connection. Alex, I say you investigate those two, you hold more ground in this town than myself, or any of us, and they are by far the most suspicious."

Klein nodded, he had noticed that too. "Also, Roscoe and John." He stated. "Roscoe works at the Fallen Dreams bar, and John plays at The Edge." He shrugged and looked at Blade. "As suspicious as this all may be, 4/7 is hardly an easy feat to investigate. Not to mention it could all be a red herring to throw us off..." He sighed and shook his head. "Still, with 4 people here to investigate, we have a 4 in 7 shot to catch this guy." Klein stood. "Sitting around here isnt helping, I suppose even if I am wrong I will eliminate one of the possibilities." He looked at the profiles one last time. "I'm going to investigate....John Till Mannington" He stated. "This may be a false lead, but he is all too innocent for my taste, being called mentally unstable doesnt look too good, not to mention he has little to no explanation for where he is at a given time like a couple of these people." He looked around at the group. "Lets hope one of us pick the right person." He paused for a moment. "Is there any other information I may be missing before I leave?" He asked Alex.

Amira sighed, letting the papers fall from her hand. She nodded at Klein. "Right. I'll be taking Roscoe, then. Like you said, Klein, his bar is called Fallen Dreams, and he's been around for two years. It may seem to fall into place too well, but I think it's still worth a look. The fact that he has a family is definitely an interesting twist, I'll admit.." Her brow furrowed in deep thought as she ran over things again in her mind. "Also, Alex.." she said. "I feel like you need to be careful if you're really going to take on two people. You're already stressed, and I'm worried that will be too much for anyone. If you'd like help, I'm especially interested in our poet..." Amira stood up straighter. "Well, I guess that is my piece. Anything else?"

"Well, I guess that's everything. I don't think we missed any clues, but I do have a small objection. Blade, you go after Roscoe. I can't be two places at once and you still haven't picked a target yet. Meanwhile, I'll go check out Nick. I just noticed something about him that is...unpleasant. He is said to have 37 tattoos and...well, Daygeran has 37 victims as of now. Amira, you can go after the poet, if you feel like he is the most suspicious, you have all the right to check him out. Klein has already made his decision and Narik is going to sit that one out for now, so I guess we are all prepared."
