"I say we go." Blade said leaning against a side of the ship. "The short walk from the docking town should be worth the quality supplies we can gather in Nordipolica." Narik nodded, and Blade assumed control of the wheel, setting course. The wind picked up and the ship began to make good time. Blade smiled, "At this rate we'll make it to town before nightfall."

The boat soon docked at the small docking town, upon paying the small fee for docking the group stepped off the boat, being sure to bring enough money with them to pay for what they needed when they arrived in Nordipolica. The trail to Nordipolica was rocky but otherwise there were no dangers. Upon reaching the top of a hill looking down upon the village and farmland surrounding the castle town they noticed a man quickly walking in the opposite direction, towards the docking town, followed by a donkey carrying a cart of what looked to be his belongings. "Excuse me, my name is Reddy, are you folks headed to Nordipolica?" He asked. Klein nodded. "We are gathering supplies from there sir." He said. The man shook his head and sighed. "I wouldnt do that if I were you." He said. "There is an uprising going on, the people are displeasd with the high taxes placed upon them, and a warlord from the far south has taken advantage of their fickle will." He pointed towards the far left of the village, where a large wall of sticks was constructed, many tents and fires lined the inside. "He brought with him 3 people he calls his generals, nobody knows who they are, they all wear masks and don't use their real names when speaking. Together they plan to overthrow King Hanlin using the peasants and farmers as soldiers against the Kings royal guard." Reddy sighed. "I tried to talk many of them out of it, but nobody would listen, so I'm leaving town before the war starts, I reccomend you do the same." He finished and continued walking towards the docking town, with a hurried step.

----------Continued from Nordipolica----------
Narik put down the maps and looked out to the water. He saw that they had traveled far from Nordipolica and were back in the sea. He heard footsteps from the stairs and turned to see Blade coming up from inside the boat. "Hey, come over here for a second, Blade!" Blade looked over to Narik and nodded. When he got over, Narik pointed to the chest that King Hanlin gave him. "I was going to wait until Klein got up and Amira was here, but I'm getting impatient. I don't know what's in it, but the King gave it to me, so it must be good." Narik started to try to open the chest, but soon realized that it was stuck. "Damn thing, probably hasn't been opened in years. Wonder what could be in it then?" Blade stepped up and cracked his knuckles. "Allow me!" He grabbed the chest and started to force it open. Finally, the top bursted open and some coins and treasure spilled onto the deck. "Huh, well that works well." Narik confirmed as he went down to look inside the chest.
There was a pile of more coins and treasure on the top, so Narik scooped all of it out and put it aside. Blade looked at all the necklaces and rings. "Wow, these must be worth a fortune. And you're acting like they are nothing." Narik didn't seem to hear Blade and still rummaged through to the bottom. He then looked to Blade and pulled out the contents of the bottom of the chest. "I already have enough money, but I don't have this!" In his hands was a map, a note, and a compass. "Well actually, we have plenty of maps, but that's beside the point. I was referring to this type of map. I believe it's a treasure map of some sort." Blade was confused by the equipment. "Why would Hanlin give us this? Wouldn't he want it for himself?" Narik shrugged. "I have no idea. He's a King, I bet he has plenty of money already. Seems like he didn't really care for this though, seeing as it was never opened for quite some time."
Narik flipped open the map and laid it carefully onto the deck. He then reached for the note and began to read it out loud. "We've finally found it! The location of were the battleground was. I'm pretty sure it will be there, it just has to be! I have begun making plans of engagement, I'll have them sent to every member soon enough so we are on equal terms. I'm telling you, one of the six is..." Narik looked further down the note and saw dried blood on the bottom right. "Seems the writer never got this letter out...or finished it for that matter." He looked over to Blade. "Well...what do you think of this?" Blade leaned against the railing and sighed. "I'm not sure. It sounds interesting, I'll tell you that much. We should wait until Klein is healed before we make a decision, it should be a team consensus." Narik nodded and put the map and note in his pocket. "Agreed." Narik then looked around and realized there was nothing else to do. "Why don't we play a game or something to pass the time. How about that old cup game you ran in Braiden?" Blade smiled and went to go find some cups. "If you guess wrong 10 times, I get all the treasure in that chest." Narik laughed. "Alright then, you're on."

Klein stirred and looked around the room he was in. "The ship?" he thought to himself. No one was around, just as well, he wasnt in the mood to start a conversation anyway. Klein stood and got dressed slowly, his thoughts still fixated on that last moment.
He walked out into the hallway and looked up and down, all the rooms were empty. "Must be above decks." He said out loud. He glanced into the supplies room as he passed, stopping him in his tracks. Some of the weapons and armor of the 3 generals were set against the wall, Blade and Narik must have taken them. Walking into the room Klein stooped down and picked up a blood stained helmet and mask. He stood back up and brought them back to his room, setting them gently on his bed.
Making his way above decks, Klein cupped his hand over his eyes to shield them from the glaring mid-day sun. He noticed Blade and Narik playing a friendly game, Amira watching them and laughing. Klein avoided making eye-contact, making a beeline for the upper deck at the back of the ship. Placing his hands on the railing, staring off into the distance at the gulls swooping and flying, the white water being left in the wake of the ship.
Klein sighed. "It always catches up with me, somehow." He thought to himself. "Never like this though." He looked upward at the blue sky, few clouds drifting lazily along. He reached one hand to his hip, unclasping the hook on his pouch. Feeling a hand past the odds and ends withing he grasped something small. He brought it up in front of his face. The round chunk of wood felt small in his palm as he looked at it.
"You finally got your freedom..." Klein said under his breath. He looked downward, pulling his headband a bit lower with his other hand. The wood had the initials KM and RM carved into it, as well as a small carving of a tree. A single drop hit the tree, causing it to darken slightly. Klein placed it back where it belonged, placing his hands back on the railing, head down. "Just look what it cost you...I'm sorry." He said softly, voice on the verge of breaking. "No matter how I try...my past catches up with me...but I will press forward." He thought to himself, knuckles turning white as he gripped the railing. "I never go back on my word." His shoulder heaved as he shuddered slightly, reaching one hand to his eyes to clear them.

"...You damn cheater." Narik stood up and went to get the chest. "You aren't getting any of this treasure. I saw what you did there, having the ball instead of it being in the cups!" Blade pulled up the left cup, revealing the ball. "It was right here the whole time, I don't know what you're talking about." Narik sighed and then looked to Amira, who had been observing the whole game. "What's your take on this, hm? You saw him didn't you?" Amira shook her head. "Nope, the ball was inside that cup the entire time. You are just a sore loser." Narik stood there in silence and then opened the chest and threw some of the treasure at Blade. "Take it, you should wear some as well. Matches your personality!" Amira saw the chest and then the map and note hanging from Narik's pocket. "Where did all that come from anyway? Why wasn't I informed?" Narik looked to his pocket and saw the map and note were visible. "Uh..well. We got a little reward from Hanlin for the job well done and Blade and decided to take a look at what was in it before everyone else. We were going to explain in full detail once everyone was here, but it seems Klein is still not awake."
Blade got up from his seat. "I'll go check to see how he is doing." He then went downstairs and a short while later came back up confused. "He isn't down there. He must be up and about somewhere." Narik walked up to the top of the boat and saw Klein standing near the railing, looking out to sea. "Hey, seems you are all better. Why didn't you come over to us when you came upstairs?" Klein turned to Narik, the look in his eyes seemed different. "Uh, is something wrong man?" Narik asked, worried. Klein turned back around and looked to the ocean again. "No, nothing. Just thinking about something." He then looked back to Narik, the look in his eyes back to the way Narik remembered. "Huh, well. I needed your opinion on something downstairs. We've decided that it should be a team decision." Klein nodded and followed behind back to where Blade and Amira were. Narik pulled out the note and map and explained to Amira and Klein was was going on. "Alright then, Blade and I thought that this sounds interesting, but if we are going to be heading out on something that can be dangerous, we might as well all agree on it." He then looked to Amira and Klein. "Well, are you both in?"

Amira laughed, the sound a mix between bitterness and amusement. "You warn of the danger as if we're a cowards, Narik, who have yet to see danger." She looked at him, then Blade. She hesitated, looking concerned at Klein, who seemed dark and too quiet.
"If Klein is feeling up to it so soon, then.. I'm in," she said.

Klein nodded, forcing a smile. "Sure, I'm fine, just a little tired out, but by the time we get there I'll be ready to go!" He cracked his neck slightly. "Only question is, where the hell will that map take us?" He studied it. "And what will be waiting for us there?" He picked up the note, running a thumb across the blood. "Whatever it is, this guy sure didn't stand a chance." He set it back down and looked to the rest. "So, that's settled, what do we do until we get there?" He asked, cocking his head to the side, still avoiding any eye-contact.

Narik shrugged. "That's something you guys can decide by yourselves. I am going to make sure we are going the right way." Narik took the map and compass and then went up to the wheel. Blade looked to Klein and Amira. "So..do you any of you want to play the cup game?" Narik looked out to the ocean and then folded out the map on the wheel. "According to this, we should be heading the right way. Might as well use the compass to make sure.." He grabbed the compass from his pocket and looked at it. The needle was pointing North, but refused to move if rotated. "Damn thing must be broken, no idea how long it was in that chest anyway." Narik sent it down on the floor and then continued to look at the map. "It seems there is also a very rocky path later down the road, but it shouldn't be too hard to navigate through, at least, I hope so." Narik then started to hear a noise and looked down to see that the compass needle was now spinning out of control. "What the hell?" He asked as he picked it back up and examined it. A cold look then appeared on Narik's face.
"Shit!" He yelled as he threw the compass off of the boat. He ran down to the lower deck and started to look out at the sea, but didn't see anything. Blade called to him from the table they were at. "Is everything okay? You seem worried about something?" Narik turned around and smiled. "No, no. Everything's fine, I just had a false feeling...I guess." Narik then went back up to the wheel and Blade, Klein, and Amira continued their game. After a few hours, the ship was approaching a fog. "Great, gonna be fun trying to see where the hell I'm going with this. Good thing we haven't made it to the rocks yet." Narik then looked back down at the map and continued on. Meanwhile, behind them deep in the fog, another boat slowly followed.

Ohhh I could've got a Falcon! -----
Blade got up from the table, tired of playing games with the others. He leaned against the side of the boat. He stared out at sea for a moment. He smirked, and then let out a loud whistle. Within moments, a flacon swooped down, and landed o the railing next to Blade. He patted its head, as Narik looked over. "A friend of yours..?" Blade laughed, "You could say that. His name's Valor. Because he has to be the bravest creature I've ever seen." Narik questioned, "How so?" Blade turned around, "I was walking one day, years ago, when I saw a hunter in the distance, Valor didnt see him. The hunter fired an arrow, piercing his wing. He couldn;t fly, but that bird was brave enough to survive. He ran, trying to fly, but only gliding at his best, but he was getting tired, the hunter came to collect him. The hunter crouched down to grab him, but as soon as he did, valor leapt, clawing the hunter's face with his razor sharp talon. He ran and ran, and eventually I made my way to him. He was too exhausted to even move at this point. I picked him up, and after a few choice words, the hunter finally went on his way.I brought Valor back with me to the inn I was staying at that night. For months he stuck with me, eventually he became healthy enough to fly again, I thought I'd never see him again, but he never left. I trained him to come to me whenever I whistle. He became my partner in crime back in my younger days." Narik responded, "Crime?" Blade nodded, "I had just left home, with no money I went through hard times... However, I soon lost count of the coin bags this little guy snagged for me, and eventually I got into gambling and made my own way, I've just always kept him with me."

Narik nodded. "Yeah, seems like a good companion. Sometimes animals are the best thing for that." He looked out from the boat. "Damn fog has no sign of stopping anytime soon. Guess we'll have to just hang around for now." He went up to the wheel and placed his hand on it. He was thinking about the compass he threw overboard earlier. "That damn thing, I could recognize it anywhere. Somebody toyed with that compass and then put it in that chest. Whoever was lucky enough to find it and touch the compass would activate the mechanism. Could track them to the end of the world, that's if the person who made it is even still alive. God only knows how long the compass was in there." He took his hand off the wheel and turned around and then froze. Out in the distance he saw it, a faint light that quickly shot off as he noticed it. "Great, either my mind is going crazy about this...or the compass master has found us."
Narik went down the steps and continued to look out in the direction he saw the light in. Everyone else had went downstairs and it was only him on the deck. "It didn't seem that far away from our ship. Guess there is only one way to find out.." Narik drew one of his daggers from his pocket and carefully aimed out into the fog. He then threw the dagger and waited to hear it hit anything. Nothing was heard, so he took another and tried again. Still nothing. Narik sighed and wiped his face with his hand. "Guess it was just my mind.." He turned around and began to head downstairs, but suddenly heard a sound from behind him. He quickly sprung around and drew another dagger. A man was standing on the railing of the boat and had a blade drawn. "Took quite a bit to follow up on your trail. We figured someone would find our tracker eventually." He jumped down from the railing and then put away his blade. He looked up and saw a confused look on Narik. "I needed to use it to get to your ship. I wouldn't been able to jump that far otherwise. Just saying sorry about the hole in the side right now, I'll fix it up for you if you like." Narik slowly put his dagger away and waited for the man to continue speaking. "So I expect you are waiting for me to explain why I'm here, what was with that compass, and why I want to join up with you? Well don't you worry, take a seat or something because it will be a decently sized story." Narik only nodded and pointed behind him to the table and chairs. The man followed him over to them and they both sat down.
"Well first off, my name is Azal. I am the leader of a large settlement in the West known as the Konjada. Now as leader, I have been given several heavy burdens to complete. Managing a colony is quite a hassle, especially at my age. I'm 20 by the way if you couldn't tell already. Anyway, back to the point, there is a feud that has gone for decades between the Konjada and the Izanen, which is another settlement near us. Many wars have gone on between us and it always seems to end in a draw, seeing as we are both evenly matched. My father grew sick of this constant battles and sought to find a way to stop it for good. After years of research, he found that there are 6 crystals hidden around the world that have been said to been created by God himself. Whoever finds one is given overwhelming power and if you managed to somehow find all 6, you would have power great enough to rival God. Now even with this knowledge, my father was only ever able to locate one of them, but as he planned the search party for it he was attacked. He managed to kill his attacker, but had been gravely wounded. He put the map to the crystal and his note in the chest, along with that compass. Then he put a sealing spell on the chest to make sure it could only be opened after a certain amount of time. When I returned from a journey and found him dead, he had a note for me as well. It said that the chest could be opened again in 5 years, but only by someone who was a 'candidate'. I then had the chest put away in Nordipolica for safe keeping, but it seems King Hanlin had accidentally given you that chest instead of another filled with gold or whatever he intended. Luckily, I still had the device my father linked with the compass, so finding you was easy. The thing I want to know is, how were you able to open it? I never understood the 'candidate' thing my father said, but it seems you are one of them." Narik thought for a second and then remember that he wasn't the one who opened it, Blade was. "I really don't like the thought of Blade being a candidate for something." He then looked back to Azal and laughed. "I just opened it and that was it. No idea what that means either. So can you tell me how to got to us so fast, I mean, we only opened the chest a few days ago." Azal pointed to Narik and leaned forward in his chair. "That's the weirdest part of this all. The five year spell was up two days ago, meaning that you opened it that very day. I was on my way to Nordipolica to see if I was able to open it and when I got to the docks, the tracker went off, so I headed off to find you. Once again, it took awhile due to you throwing the compass into the ocean, but I found you."
Narik nodded. "So...what is your plan now? The chest is open, the map is here, and we are headed to this so called resting place of the crystal." Azal leaned back in the chair. "Well, I will stick around with you and we'll go there together. I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but my father found that location and trusted me to find it afterwards. You getting the chest was a mistake, so the crystal should be given to me once we reached the destination. I'm sure there will be other things you can take if you like." Narik pulled out the map and placed it on the table. "I'm all for that, but I want to ask you a question first." Azal looked at the map and then Narik. "Shoot!" Narik stared directly into Azal's eyes before asking. "When you get this crystal, will you use it for good?" He watched for any falter in Azal's eye contact, but there wasn't one slight movement. "Yes, I told you already. The Konjada only want peace, but the Izanen won't allow us to have it. With this crystal, I'll be able to persuade them to see things our way. I won't massacre them or anything, just use it as a motivator, so we can finally have peace between us." With that, Narik slid the map all the way to Azal. "Alright then, I'll help you." Azal smiled and then started to look at the map, but suddenly jumped out of his seat. "Oops! I almost forgot! Darius! You can come up now!" From the railing where Azal first showed up, a hand reached up and slowly a body came with it. The man fell to the floor of the ship, exhausted. "Completely forgot to ask you if it was okay for Darius here to come up and join us. He has been hanging by the boat side for all this time now. Guess that means there are really two sword holes in the side, but don't worry. I'll fix them tomorrow!" Narik realized he had forgotten something. "Wait, how did you get here anyway?" Azal pointed out into the fog. "We had a nice little rowboat that we were on. As I said earlier, it was very difficult catching up to you. A large boat like this moves quite faster than a rowboat, but we managed. It's probably out in the middle of the sea now, we don't really have any use for it anymore." Narik looked to Darius and saw that he was sleeping. "Your buddy here seems to have the right idea, it's late so you might as well get a few hours of sleep. There are three others on this ship with me, I'll talk it over with them in the morning and explain what's going on." Azal nodded and then sat back down in the chair. "Fine by me. I'll just look over this map a bit more. I'll see you tomorrow." Narik then turned and headed down to his room to finally get some rest.

Klein awoke early the next morning, feeling slightly refreshed. His mind was finally getting numb to his brothers death. Glancing over at the bloodstained helmet he nodded once solemnly. He stood, throwing on his chest guard and tying on his headband. He stretched slightly and opened his door, he noticed Narik was just leaving his room as well so he leaned against his doorway and waved him over. "Hey, Narik, what was all the clatter about last night, and the voices, we have some unpleasent guests you had to get rid of? You couldve asked me or Blade for help if you needed it." Klein said.

"Oh yeah, about that..." Narik motioned for Klein to follow him upstairs. On the deck, Darius was still passed out and Azal had fallen asleep in the chair while looking at the map. "Who the hell are they?" Klein asked Narik. "It seems there is a lot more to that chest then we knew about. He can explain more when he gets up." Narik looked around and noticed that the fog had passed. "I've got to make sure we are going the right way." He grabbed the map from the table, which woke Azal. "Wha...oh hey! I guess I must've dozed off." He rubbed his eyes and then looked at Klein. "I'm assuming this is one of your friends you spoke of. Pleasure to meet you, I'm Azal." He raised his hand to shake and Klein accepted. "Klein, who's that guy there?" He pointed over to Darius. "Oh him. He's my bodyguard, I didn't really want him to come with me, but the boat ride would've been dull without him." Azal picked up one of the cups that were on the table and threw it at Darius, waking him. "Feeling better? I apologize about leaving you on the side. You know me, always forgetting trivial things." Darius stood up and hit Azal. "So you're calling me trivial, huh? It was my idea to use our swords to reach the boat anyway." Azal rubbed his head and looked to the stairs, noticing Blade and Amira had awoken as well. "Alright then, everyone is here now. Time for you to explain why you're here." Klein asked Azal. "Right! All of you can take a seat and enjoy the story. Might not be as good as the one I told yesterday, but it'll do."
Meanwhile, Narik was up by the wheel. "Hmm, seems we are almost there. It's weird though. This map shows that there should be loads of mountains and rocks here, but..." Narik looked ahead to the sea, there was nothing in sight expect for the sea and their destination in the distance, a small island. "I don't like the feel of this at all. That note mentioned that this was the sight of a battlefield. Could a battle really have taken out everything else around the island?" Narik looked down at the map one last time. "Guess we'll find out once we get there, eh?"

Blade smirked, "Interesting story, well, looks like we've got ourselves another adventure boys." Klein laughed, "Ha, it seems that way!" Blade examined the map for a few moments, then laughed, "I was expecting jewels and gold when I opened this chest, ha, who would have thought a map and a compass would be inside!" Narik buried his face in his palm and sighed to himself, and Azal's eyes shot directly at Blade. "So, you're the one who opened this chest?! That.. that makes you a Candidate!" Blade was confused for a moment, then smiled, "Well I'd love to accept that role... Might I ask you first sir, what exactly IS a 'candidate'?"

Klein shuffled uneasily. He didn't like the sounds of any of this. Even if these people were just after riches, that was bad enough, but it was worse than that. "Why are they so trusting of this guy? This seems way too fishy. A crystal that grants godlike power, and we are just going to hand it over based on one mans story?
He slumped slightly. Klein knew all too well how power could corrupt, thats just what he was trying to escape, he didn't want to fall prey to it again, let alone enable it to become widespread. "I'll have to have a talk with Narik and Blade about this...but I doubt they'll see things my way...guess I'll hold my tongue and strike when I deem it time. I am my own man after all. He leaned backwards against the railing of the ship, looking towards their destination, keeping one ear trained on the conversation being held.

Azal put his finger to his chin. "Huh, you know that's a good question. I not really sure myself. I remember in the father's writing, he describes that there were people chosen at birth to be candidates. Not by people, but by the Gods of Avalon. These candidates would then watch over the world and protect it from corruption. Of course, not all of them knew this, it was just a title that was unknowingly given to them. But my father did manage to find ways to learn if a person was a candidate, like the spell he used on the chest. Through his studies, he learned that a candidate doesn't necessarily have to be good all his life. Most had rocky childhoods and went into crime early in their life, but they would always head towards good eventually." Blade seemed slightly confused. "So me being a candidate means that I will be forced to be good...by the Gods?" Azal shrugged. "According to my father, yes. But I never really followed up on everything he wrote. Once I figured out all I needed about getting the crystal, I kinda just focused on that, you know?"
Narik had dozed off at the wheel and awoke to see that they were at the coast of the island. "Never fails. Time always goes fast when you're doing the important stuff." He went downstairs to alert the others, but they were already prepared. "About time you woke up. We've been ready for at least an hour." Klein stated. Narik rubbed the back of his head, embarrassed. "Is that so? Haha, sorry about that." Narik grabbed his equipment and then joined Klein, Blade, Amira, Azal, and Darius as they left the ship. The island was bare, grass or anything of the nature was a rarity. The ground was battle-worn, craters and footprints were littered everywhere. "Nice place. I think a home right on that hill would look great." Azal said, pointing towards a hill not that far away. "Well I doubt the crystal is going to be hanging out on the land, there must be something around here. A cave, perhaps?" Darius suggested. Narik nodded. "Yeah, I agree with you on that. I guess we should split up. Two groups of three. The island isn't that big, so it shouldn't take that long." Klein laughed. "If that crystal wasn't hidden well, I think the world would already be destroyed. We are going to have to look hard for this." Azal sighed. "Yeah, I figured that as well. So what will the teams be?" He looked to Narik. "I guess I'll go with you and Darius, then Klein, Blade, and Amira will take the other direction." Blade nodded. "Alright, I'm a candidate, so I should be able to find this thing easy right?" Klein and Amira started to walk off with Blade. "I don't think Azal said anything about the candidate having any special link to the crystal, so I doubt it." Amira said as Blade attempted to catch up.
