"Okay?" Narik asked the man who just entered his office. "I told you what I wanted and you come in here and tell me something completely different. If you think you can open a store up and only give me 30% of the profit, you best get out of this town right now!" The man looked to Narik and fell to his knees, "Please sir, I can't go no place else. I don't have enough money to travel to another town, so that's why I need as much of the profit as possible. You have to understand!" Narik sighed, "Okay, you know what? I'll make you a deal, you can have your 70% for the first month the store is open, after that, it'll be 50-50. Got it?" The man jumped up from the floor and shook Narik's hand. 'Yes sir! I've got it, I won't let you down." The man ran out the room and Narik got out of his seat. "I guess it's time for a drink..."
Narik sat down at the barstand. "You know the drill, give me the worst you've got." Narik told the bartender. A townsman sitting next to Narik looked over to him, "You know, for the leader of our town, you sure don't act like it. Always getting drunk and harassing villagers..." Narik laughed and took a drink, "And if it weren't for me, half of you folk would be setting up camp in the middle of a forest. So, I think it's better to have me as a leader than nothing!" Narik moved his left hand up to the table and the man noticed a wedding ring on his finger. "I didn't know you were married." Narik took another drink, "I'm not." The man moved in closer, "Then why do you-" Narik suddenly smashed the drink against the man's head, "I DON'T KNOW! Maybe I like being haunted by my past, so that I can never forget what I did and make myself always ask how I could've changed it." Narik got up and left the bar, but turned at the doorway to the man, "But if that is the case, I don't know why I drink away the pain.."
He stumbled out of the bar and walked down the street. A preist walked by him and gave a dirty look. "The fuck you looking at?" Narik yelled at him. The preist turned, "Such fowl language, well I wouldn't expect anything else from a drunk like you." Narik clutched his hand into a fist, "And what are you gonna do about it? Wack me with your holy stick? Get out of here you crazy..." Narik fell to the ground before finishing his sentence. "Okay, I guess I had a little too much to drink..." He got back up to his feet, giving the preist one last look before turning to an alleyway that led to his manor. But before he could get there, he was struck in the back of the head and went unconcious.
